Denver-based trumpeter and music educator Randy Runyan is at home in a variety of classical and commercial styles. While completing his Master of Music degree at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, he was a member of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra, Lamont Wind Ensemble, Lamont Jazz Orchestra, and various chamber groups. In addition to solo performances, he has performed with the Denver Brass, Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, Denver Pops Orchestra, Lakewood Symphony, Colorado Wind Ensemble, Aurora Symphony Brass Quintet, Gravity Defied Theatre Company, Stagedoor Theatre, Venue Theatre, Don Elwood Big Band, Bob's Big Band, Memories Dance Band, Manabí, Funkiphino, OverSoul'd, Honey Comb, The Atomic Brass Project, Disco Floyd, Mono Verde, Molina Speaks, Gora Gora Orkestar, GAMB, and Quilombo. In his current projects, Randy plays in genres as diverse as classical, jazz, salsa, hip-hop, funk, and soul.
Randy's passion for performing is matched only by his passion for teaching. When he is not performing, he can be found teaching band, orchestra and mariachi classes at a Denver middle school or teaching private brass lessons throughout the Denver metropolitan area. His private students excel in their ensembles, where many of them hold their respective principal or lead positions, and have been selected to various honor groups.
